Mine are Tang and Sung, because theirs scientific and technological achievements, the arts and the multiculturalism of the time.

Like many other posters I tend to favor the Tang dynasty, in part because of its cosmopolitan, semi-international flavor, in part because of the remarkable flourishing of the arts that took place during that time. Particularly in the visual arts (which were quite cosmopolitan in style), but also in poetry (masters like Li Po and Wang Wei).

I do find the Song dynasty (both Northern and Southern) fascinating as well. Monochrome ink landscape painting reached a peak that has never been matched during that time. And there were some formidable calligraphers as well.

My favourite is Song when chinese civilization peaked and advantaged to the rest of the world by to much distance. Then Han and i like Tang but can't find there the strong feelings of the other two dinasties.

I admire the Tang for their cosmopolitan society and their contacts with Turkic, Persan, Arabic, and Byzantine civilizatons; but the era I find most interesting was the period of "Spring-Autumn" and the "Warring states" (roughly 800-200 B.C.)
Like Ancient Greece, China was divided into many independent city states who competed with each other. Most of the Chinese philosophical schools, like Confucism and Taoism, were founded in this period.

When the First Emperor unified all these warring states, he also purified the monetary systems, the measuring system, and all the diversity in thought and expression, making the country sterile (like the Spanish inquisition).

The Tang, with the Song a close second. Those dynasties were really China's Golden Age.

we never call ourselves as Tang Ren.

you my heared they say Tang Ren Jie(Tang Ren Street).
because the Chinese area in any foreign nation is called China town, the pronunciation of town is kind of like Tang, so Chinese call the China town is Tang ren jie.

actually the best time of China was Ming.
people lived freely and had freedom of speech, the capitalism arose at that time, marine trade was flourishing, the government was no longer follow the emperor's order, but had a cabinet. and minisiters(only the cabinet ministers) voted for policies.

Tang dynasty was controled by castrated man at later era. and the central power was very weak at Tang. actually Tang wasn't good as the educators say.

Do you guys know why the Chinese education circle tries hard to frame up, and bring shame on Ming? Because Ming was a lot more free, and more respect for human rights for their people, communist can't do it , so they don't wanna let people know there was a such nice time in Chinese history~

but if you read a lot of books about Ming, you will discover it is a forgotten realm. you can't image how nice was it.

Salaam/Greetings!

Tang and Ming. The former dynasty because of it's grandness in culture, architecture and cool army, the latter because of it's famous global exploration missions led by Zheng He, which in hindsight - if the Emperor had taken this golden opportunity with both hands -could have lifted a large burden off modern China by doing what European countries did when they acquired territories in the new world and that is mass migrations to the new colonies. Also it's assistance to Joseon during Imjin is another reason.
