Samsun is a Turkmen-Kırım Tatar city,Laz people living in eastern North(like Trabzon)
And lazs and Turks marrried mostly, modern Lazs are half-Turks but not a new nation.

Oppressor? join the oppressor? When were they oppresed huh. This is somthing that especially Greeks find very hard to comprehend. Due to their school books being filled with nonsense and unverifiable lies about the Ottoman and previous Selcuk era they grow up with the conclusion, Ottomans were evil oppressers who outdone the Europeans in the New World for savagry.

They are not taught the realities unfortunately. For example that many Greeks didn't even like the Roman Byzantium and powerfull families joined the Ottoman side. That the Greek Church was allowed autonomy and protected from Catholicism, that Greek schools were permitted and financed by the state etc etc It was not an oppressive environment, infact the only reason there still is a people called Greek is due to Ottoman tolerance, justice and regard for human rights. If Ottomans had adopted say the Spanish model, you'd all be Turkish speaking Muslims by now.

dear friend. Isn't a fact that the strategy of all governers all over the world is to hide the true history and facts? You think that your government tells you the truth whehn you were in school. If you believe that you are ignorant. Anyway Turkish it is not an evil people. They were  just behaving as conquerors. If you want i could attach you info and real facts about how they were slaughter people of other nationalities and especially Greeks in Smirni and Konstantinoupoli. After all UK and USA and Israel behave the same way.

Laz are mentioned in Xenophon's "Anabasis" in 4th century, when a group of Greek mercenaries , coming back to Greece from Persian empire, passed from the region southern of Trapezous (Trebzon).

It's also interesting ,in the same text, the mention of "Kardouchoi"=Kurds,in the area where still  live today.

Now,Sedat ,if your father or you believe that you are 100 or 101 % Turks, for me of course you are.
Although i would prefer every tribe or ethnical group to maintain its unique culture-beyond national identities.

how do you explain so mant accents in such a "small" place. I mean they sound like 2 completley different languages the laz ege and east turkish accent and don't forget the kyseri accent and thrace accent , antep accent and more. how do you explain this. has it nothing to do that all the regions were inhabited by different ethnicities.

and you can denie that turkey has many ethnicities and you claim that they have o had no impact or influence in the accents that were created in just thousands of years btw its not just accents they have even some different vocab and use other suffixes like what do you say(mean)

Official turkish: Ne diyorsun
Black sea accent; Ne diyersun(not sure if this is correct but its something like that)
Kayseri accent: Ne diyiong(don't no if the spelling is right)
Antep accent; Ne diying

there are even more accents

Thumbs UpExactly

London,Cockney-accent
Cornish-accent
Geordie-accent
Liverpudlian-accent
Black-country,accent

etc,etc,etc

All The Above=English,regional-accents-are-very-common, they have nothing to do with "Race"
