It would depend upon situation. Plains Indians and The Light Brigade would get my vote. Macedonians were pretty good too.

İ would go for the Turks.(Seljuks)İn long range fighting they were all but invincible. They applied simple moves(such as the parthian shot)so well that they become extremely deadly.Trained from birth to ride and use the bow they were exellent horseman. My other choices are again Turks(Sipahis) and of course;Mongols.

Since they are all asian I would say they all were master horseman. Yet the longest chain of empires that used cavalry were the Turks.

True the Turks were primarily horse archers and that is how they won the day even when outnumbered.Crimean Tatars were used in the Ottoman army as late as the early 18th century

All steppe people are equally good horseman. In term of cavalry, It would be the Jurchens hands down. Aguda would have slaughtered Genghis as he did to Liao Tien Shun Di's similar tactic of 100,000 army with only 3,700 men. Funny how they are not even on the list. The Mongols never did achieve anything that spectacular, the most they defeat the Jin with was been outnumbered 3 to 1 yet they were defeated in a battle which they outnumbered Jin 10 to 1 in Gui De.

The Australian Light Horse and the New Zealand Mounted Rifles deserve some mention here as well. They proved their worth against the Ottoman Turks in the Palestine campeign. The Xiong-nu, Turks, Mongols and Scythians were each masters of their paticular realms, I would vote for all of them!

In particulairly i am here the only (i think) that says: from mounted infantry probably the Dragoons of England/France were best, heavy cavalry - Polish Winged Hussars in 17th. and from horse archers the horsemen of the steppes.

You have to be more specific.Being a horse archer doesn't make you win battles.

The Jurchen cavalry's phenomenon is unparallel in history before industrial times. When Wan Yan Aguda just started his war with Liao, the entire Jurchen population under his control was less than 50,000. While his entire army is little more than 5,000. When genghis Khan started he has 200,000 cavalry and 1.5 million people. Even Mao Dun had over half a million people and over 200,000 in the start against the Han.

All cavalry were obviously good, seeing as they were all perfectly suited for their respective enviroments and time frames. The Mongols were nothing special, seeing as their cavalry was standard fare amongst the nomads. The Turkish Sipahis were a bit more innovative, but once again they were good because they fit in to their roles.

Considering the technological handicaps and the overall situation, if I did have to pick, it would be the Macedonian Companion cavalry.
