i think the US is an empire on a economic (or if we dont get our way we invade) type of way. Why would we treat that list as either/or there is room for all in that list to be super powers. I want russia back in the fold and dont mind India to take a lead in its region.

Americanus, i think india will surpass the PRC in population size, way before 50 years.

Well there is nothing which shows that China couldn't be a super power in next 50 years but yes maybe I am wrong because the US will never let it do so I wish that there would be more than one super power in near future so that no one country may have a monopoly in the World.

I didn't say that the USA was better than the Roman Empire, but now that you mention it I suppose that it is (though Rome was indeed great in its time).  The USA is bigger, wealthier, and has a much more powerfull military than the Roman Empire ever had.  Also, the USA is able to project its power worldwide, much further than Rome was able too.  I know that the government of the USA does not consider itself an empire but in many ways it seems like one at times.

Rome didn't owe everybody else more money than it can pay back.

The US is nothing like as powerful as it was fifty years ago. And Americans are simply not prepared to make the sacrifices they need to make to stay in power (any more than the British were post-1945).

I doubt India will ever be a superpower.  China, maybe, more likely than Indai anyway.  If for some reason America is not the superpower (not going to happen) than I would rather see Russia as the superpower than any of the others mentioned.  I certainly would not want Turkey to be a superpower.

Because peace will never happen. There will always be someone who will resort to violence.

Reading these message boards alone, everyone is always talking about conspiracies and how they must be true. So obviously these people feel like they aren't treated fairly. It's a feeling that all humans have and will never go away. We want to share the same power, we want to feel that we are equal, and we will always believe that things are more complicated then they seem. That means people will always be at each others throats.

If their is one world Government in the future, there will be groups around the world who feel their history is more important, who want more power, who feel that they are being used and this will result in seperation and conflict. As long as there is seperation and a human race, there will always be wars.

Peace is just a dream.

"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government." E.Abbey

           2. [ The most disturbing]  Civilization will have become so global, over populated and interdependent in fifty years that economys will no longer be able to afford armys, navys etc.  The dominant and most powerful country will be determined by who wins  EUROVISION !

Eurovision as a viable alternative to the UN, is a practical idea in my book.

The voting generally goes along the line of 'whoever's killed the most of my countrymen I give maximum points to', then mark the rest of the countries in descending order of genocide on my people throughout history. The only notable spoilsports being Germany and Israel, Israel never giving Germany maximum points and Germany always giving Israel good marks despite not exactly suffering a great deal of invasion, raping, looting and pillaging at their hands.

Bosnia for example has undoubtably suffered most recently at the hands of Serbia, so naturally Serbia gets maximum points from them. I lui of centurires of massacres and carnage by the Ottomans, Turkey can usually expect second best marks from Bosnia, Croatia, Russia, Germany and so vie for the middle marks.

Now imagine the UN was run this way. Vienam, Cambodia and Lao, most of central Amercia and Somalia would vote for the US. The US would support Britain, Japan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran. India and Pakistan would love each other. China, N Korea, S Korea and Japan would be going out on pub crawls together. Europe would be the world largest lovefest and everyone would hate Canada and New Zealand except the Maoris and Indians.

I dont think the world will be over in 2012 and we wont be a bunch of morons eating canned spam. That will never happen. If anything America will be even more powerful by 2012.

Russia should anexe (spelling) Eastern Europe and the Balkans too avoid what the West has turned into. Then they can create an Eastern Federation. But for the time being they have and aging population (like the rest of Europe), so they need too boost that. Russia will be a Super Power but not like it was 20 years ago. The playing field will even out for a while. ECONOMIC POWERS-15 years *This is in no order*   India, China, Russia, America, EU, Iran(oil), Saudi Arabia(oil), Japan, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Maybe one or 2 African nations.

Military superpowers=America, EU+Russia, China, India.

Why should they create an Eastern federation thats just like going back to the days of the cold wars and we all know that the balkans or any other slavic nations dont wont to be controlled by Russia.

Sounds like a fun proposal, I'd support it!

Obviously i would love a  strong China, but i wouldn't be able to stop laughing if it didn't happen. I'd have the world's biggest "i told you so" to say

edit: i Don't think India will be THE superpower, but it looks so lonely up there with no votes so i guess i have to do it....

Why would you love a strong China? China and India have claims to each others land.
