i think we should have an election for the moderators, not that they don t deserve their position or anything, and i truly respect them, it's just that people are so big on democracy nowadays, and AE being center of intellectuals, should operate under a democratic system.

If only that were true Balaam. I am trying hard to make that come true (dictatorship) but those pesky moderators will have none of it. Big%20smile

Siege Tower, a noble idea and one that had been tossed around before. However, since we really are not a popularity contest they will continually be picked behind closed doors. Otherwise our secret government wouldn't be so secret anymore. That leaves us with the tried and true method left from our ancestors, the proto-Admins. Here is how it works. First we select the most stubborn cave dwellers roaming the forum. Then we invite them over for a little initiation (hee hee). If they pass that test we proceed to subject them to numerous humiliating challenges. I like the "walking over hot coals" one the best. Once a potential candidate has been completely demoralized we puff them up with self-confidence building measures. Stuff like:  "Good job man. I couldn't have done it any better!" As you can see, their pain is my gain. I hope you have enjoyed the fruits of our devious labor!Embarrassed For now you know the painstaking tribulations a future mod has got to go thru in order to be called an AE Mod!

Yeah, the Platypus is the one who we all bow down to in reality... Even Seko...

There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.

How about including Oceania into the SE Asia and Pacific name in the regional section? By doing something like this it might bring about more discussions of Australian, New Zealand and other surrounding area's history as it will provide a clearly recognised section for members to start such discussions who are unsure of where to start them.

It's just a silly thought... but I often wonder if it's more appropriate to mark the less-frequently discussed topics/posts with burning scroll instead of vice versa. Because the topic is dying, the scroll is slowly burning itself away to the point where it's nothing but ash...

Yes, I think I need help. Wacko

Better not. This forum is not big enough for us to face minority issue. Intellectuals should also consider the fear of majority tyranny. Rest assured, majority of the moderators are reasonable people. Remember, dictatorship works just fine if the dictator knows what he's doing. Moderators are capable... or so they say.

While democrat... I mean democracy is quite often associated with intellectuals, there are many circumstances when intellectuals are the very obstacle from democracy. Intellectuals are, after all, is the result of elitism. Democracy is to find the balance between majority contentment and perservation of elite's power.

Now all moderators need is a bit more cyber-terrorists to strengthen their undisputed leadership. They let Afrocentrists and doomsayers to drop by from time to time, and some radical newcomers so that even dull-members like us understand the direction of popular discontent. Why do you think they have to list the "undesirable" members like a collection?

With less frequent visits from moderators, their quota are falling behind. But it's not too bad, since less members are showing up now. (Ex. Pinguin)

Anyway, so much for conspiracy time. Back to work, everyone! Cheers

I think what the site needs is a forum for Weapons, Tactics, Strategy and Warfare of all eras.

How exactly does the Military History forum not cover that subject?

Women hold their councils of war in kitchens: the knives are there, and the cups of coffee, and the towels to dry the tears.

Well it's more of a history forum as in the history of battles and the like.

Well, this is more of a history forum. But fel totally free to debate any number of weapons and tactics there.

I think that we should have a sub-forum in the AE Tavern called "Picture Galleries". AE members and staff would post their pictures of anything...well there will be rules obviously. For example; Knights will post his pictures of his trip in England in this sub-forum board. Pinguin would post some pictures of Chile. Or Seko posting some pictures of himself. It saves some time and confusion. I just now need support for this...

Cheers...

Sounds like a good idea Canadian - let see what other members and the moderators of the Tavern think about it.

Yes I think it is a positive idea. I'm not a Tavern Mod, so we'll wait to see what they think, and whether they can work something out or not.
