I was reading the Old Testament or the book of Samuel to learn about the musical instruments used in the late Bronze Age. I am guessing that the Bronze Age Greek cultures on Cyprus used the same musical instruments but my question is what do you think about this??? I will check in a week because we are heading back into the wilds of Arizona again. Do you think the Torah is a good source about this and provides us with an idea of the musical insturments used in that period?

I don't really have any idea whether the Old Testament or Tanakh would be a good source, especially since, unless you read the Tanakh in Hebrew, you'd be reading rather modern translations of what the original may have meant. That is, references to trumpets or harps or viols in English translations may have little in common with what we call trumpets and harps and viols nowadays.

If you've got some more specific questions about bronze age instruments I may be able to help.

Here in Northern Europe we had some exciting instruments as can be seen in rock carvings and also be found in archaeological excavations. For example we have the famous bronse lures:

Thank you and I really knew that our version of certain musical instrument is not the same as in ancient times but I was just thinking in cultural terms. I am sure the Greeks had their own style of music as well but it would merit more research. My grad thesis was about Cycladic Civilization which overlaps a bit with Minoan.
