Zahedan isn't a war zone, at least before the riots, and Iran claims to be a state of law and orders. What happened is far from being law and order.

As for sunni-shia problems, well while it does play a part in the mullah regime attitude it is not the only one. Khuzestan has a majority shia arab population and here Nejad won the most votes from any other province and you have probably the most committed people to the revolution than any place in Iran yet the people have been living in hell since he came. All arabic newspapers were closed, many intellectuals even pro-government people like Bani-Torof were jailed, a degradation of services like no other and the only province that is poorer is Baluchistan despite 60% of Iran's oil is from there. Again these are shia not sunni.

We're all the same in their eyes

Al Jassus, I can't believe you are trying to rationalise the massacre of tens of thousands of innocent civilians.  Basically it's OK for Arabs to kill Iranians and Sunnis to kill Shias but not the other way around.

These three bandits who were tried and hanged were smuggling arms into the country for use in terrorist attacks, there is no doubt they were guilty, do you know how many policemen these bastards have murdered? Their trial was a sham nontheless.

Arab language papers were closed? Along with how many Persian language papers?  It is a regular occurance in Iran.  The papers were probably reformist or divisive. Either way, the fact that there hasn't been a public outcry speaks for itself. I think you're getting the wrong slant form the Saudi press.

Anyway, here is a very candid analysis by Kaveh Afrasiyabi:

***I think Iran should decriminalise the trafficking of opium as long its final destination is not Iran itself. Grant them safe passage to the lucrative European and Arab markets.  It is obviously what the coalition and its poodles want because since Afghanistan's occupation opium production has spiked 300%.

Five people die in unrest in Iran city
TEHRAN, June 1 (Reuters) - At least five people were killed and dozens wounded during unrest in Iran's southeastern city of Zahedan following a mosque bombing that killed 25 people there last week, Iran's Press TV reported on Monday.

No it wasn't the result of the trial, it was because a Sunni cleric died amid allegations of assassination.  I sometimes wonder whether you belong to the Rajavi cult, you spin the same kind of propaganda.

Zargos, the facts are so obvious that no one can deny them! Arabs, Sunnis and other minorities of Iran are badly oppressed by the Iranian regime, if you watch some new Iranian movies, you will see that insulting terms like Sag Armani (Armenian dog), Arab-e-Kasif (dirty Arab), Tork-e-Khar (Turkish ass), Omari (Sunni) and etc are even used in the public medias. Even Persian-speaking Shias are distinguished one from another by "Khodi & Gheir-e-Khodi" familiar and unfamiliar peoples, all resources of the country belong to first group and the second group just tries to either survive or join to the first group, the minorities have just the first option and can't go for the second one.

One thing is obvious countries like Iran (with fanatical religious theocratic regime), Saudi Arabia (with fanatical religious dictatorship regime) and Sudan (with criminal dictatorship) need a regime change big time. People are suffering under this regimes.

These are cliche's from Shah's time.  So what are Ahmadinejad and Khamenei? Tork e Khars? Or just khars? By which term are they mostly referred to?  They are both Tork.  Even the Shah was 3/4 Tork.  Why would they allow their own to be called donkeys in the media?

And if it is true then why does the regime keep getting MORE popular support, especially fromt hese poor minorities, and not less?

It doesn't add up Cyrus.

They certainly never consider themselves as Turks, because they speak Persian and the most imporant thing for them is their religion, what was their reaction when Turks were badly insulted in "Iran" newspaper last year?

Following the publication of the insulting cartoons in the nationwide newspaper “Iran”, hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis protested against “Persian chauvinism” in the streets of Tabriz on Monday, May 22nd. The cartoons made analogies such that the Azerbaijani people were compared to cockroaches that should be exterminated by cutting off their food source (excrements). The May 22nd demonstration was a continuation of protests by Azeri students in Tabriz, Urmia, Ardebil, Tehran and Zanjan.

And it turned out the author of that article was also a Turk himself...  So Turks like insulting themselves it seems.  Plays a little to the stereotype doesn't it?

Khamenei and Ahmaghi like to give speeches in Turkish too, so they are not simply Persophonic Turks, they are Turks 100% who practice the religion of their Turk founders, Safavi, who also adopted Persian it seems.

Now, an interesting, but roughly accurate, estimate about the Iranian population:

30% Azari Turk
10% Turkmen
15% Persian
10% Lor
10% Kurd
5% Arab
5% Baluchi
10% Gilani/Mazandarani
5% Other

As you see most of the population is Turkic, most of the leadership is Turk.  Ohter's aren't really in a position to challenge the Turkic rule of Iran, because as you know, most of the clergy are Turk, most of the Bazari types are Turk.

Iran is a plurality, anyone ridiculing other minorities (if you can call them that) is an idiot or a provocateur, like the author of that article.
