One philosophy I believe in is eating right and using the natro pathic approach to sickness. Also exercise.
I often listen to Dr. Bob Martin on am radio Sunday morning and I get a lot of info from his show. If you need to call his show for advice on a health issue you can. Does anyone listen to his show? (USA-Canada) I am not sure if there is a link online but his home page is: http://www.doctorbob.com/tunein.html ![]() One way I eat good:I am familar with many native plants in our mountains so I sometimes gather some and take them home. Wild mushrooms in Washington State are common but with all the poisons ones out there you have to be very careful. I also grow a garden but organic food at the store is too high. I also take anti oxidants and hyluronic acid for my back since I messed it up volunteer fire fighting. ![]() |

Only total vegetarianism can offer a good health.
Sports are a bad thing, as they unbalancing the psycho-physical powers. But walking is good because is not solicitating the body and your mind is working well, being not distracted as it is when you are doing something or simply staying. Don't listen to doctors, watch arround what medicine can offer. I disbelieve in the biology and physical laws and I believe I never get old physicaly. |

Dr. Bob Martin is a Natropathic doctor who approaches thing from the natural method first vs drugs. I walk a lot but I also run but hiking is the best form of exercise and we have tons of areas around here to hike with all our beautiful evergreen forests and even a desert nearby. I eat meat but I try to buy organically raised meat and many of my friends hunt and pass it on to me. I have not hunted for a few years but plan to soon. I tried the vegetarian thing and could not do it. ![]() Mount Spokane Edited by eaglecap - 08-Mar-2008 at 19:19 |

Not anything natural is good but anything artificial in diet is bad. Also in wearing, anything made of plastic (acrylic, polystiren etc) mantain an electrostatic field bad for body, even is not in direct contact with the body, producing a permanent physical and psychic stress (the psychic one is harder to observe). Hiking is surely better than walking, sometimes I dream at living in a natural place but I think I cann't live without the aglomeration of the city, seeing many faces and having many kith I feel preferable. Meat is very bad for organism, is a dead thing and kills (in small degrees) every tissue and organ it touches. Also eggs and milk products are very bad, sugar, oil. Pasteurized and boiled products are worst than raw ones, because they produce an acidity. I haven't eat meat and eggs since 1998 and milk, sugar, oil and products with E's since 2003 and is an enormous difference; is actualy passing from death to life. Sometimes (2-3 times a year) I eat few chocolate but soon I feel such bad that I promise never touch again. Edited by Menumorut - 08-Mar-2008 at 20:04 |

We are Omnivores. Our bodies are equipped to process meat protein as well as protein from other sources. I think the rule here is moderation and balance. I don't believe extremes in one direction or the other is the answer.
What Ecap is doing is on the right track though. Limiting or eliminating chemical food additives and preservatives will do more for your physical and emotional well being.

The bears are too Omnivores but they can feed only with vegetables for years, as are the bears at the zoo near Bucharest.
And they feel better. Just watch at the Carnivorous and Herbivorous animals. The lions, tigers etc are having a heavy breath and a permanent agitation, while antilopes, cows etc are calm and seems to feel well. |

I tend to agree with that after all arsenic can be from a natural source- ![]() Hiking is surely better than walking, sometimes I dream at living in a natural place but I think I cann't live without the aglomeration of the city, seeing many faces and having many kith I feel preferable. I love to be in the wild and we have millions of acres of wilderness in the Pacific Northwest, public land. It can be peaceful but sometimes the worry about predators can add a tad bit of stress but it is an element I also enjoy. We have a lot more predators than the wilds of Romania, BC Canada is also part of my hiking range.(Bears, black and grizzly, mountains lions, bob cats, lynx, wolf, coyote etc) I live in a city so I see plenty of people. Meat is very bad for organism, is a dead thing and kills (in small degrees) every tissue and organ it touches. Also eggs and milk products are very bad, sugar, oil. Pasteurized and boiled products are worst than raw ones, because they produce an acidity. I tend to agree with Red Clay but this is interesting. Do you have any links for this? I do agree meat is acidic and helps to push your body to an acidic PH balance, not good!! ![]() I haven't eat meat and eggs since 1998 and milk, sugar, oil and products with E's since 2003 and is an enormous difference; is actualy passing from death to life. That is good but I am not ready to give up meat although I am trying to cut out process sugar. Boy is this hard!! Chocalate itself, without the garbage and sugar added, is very healthy for you. I take the chocolate beans and crush them and mixt them with honey and the rush is not only much longer than coffee but there is no crash like you get from coffee, also acidic. ![]() Seven Devil Range - Idaho Edited by eaglecap - 08-Mar-2008 at 23:29 |

I didn't left them hardly, but before that, for years I was wishing to have a vegan diet (due to religious readings about hermits and ascets). And one day I felt very bad after I have eat something with eggs and since that day I didn't eat meat and eggs more. I imediately (from the first day) felt very well, first psychicaly, and after some months bodily. The sensation of hungry completely vanished, metabolism became healthy, I became conscious about the parts and movement of my body in a way I haven't been before. Some time, arround one year, there were moments when thinking to a hamburger was seeming attractive but after that the interest for meat completely vanished and a repulsion for meat and generaly for fat things installed. After I renounced at milk, sugar and oil, the feeling of my body became better, the fats from my body started to eliminate, the transpiration became clean, everything was working well in organism. You are most of the time optimist, jovial, energetical. Edited by Menumorut - 08-Mar-2008 at 23:59 |

I believe in:
1) Exercise. Your body is a machine that gets better the more you use it (to a point). 2) eating healthily. Ideally organic and local, with a balanced and varied diet--largely vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, dairy products, good oils, and hopefully some good lean meat and fish. 3)Avoiding stress. crack a joke, find hilarious sites, meditate, take martial arts. Your mental state has an effect on your body's health--and it's not as hard to escape stress at you might think. You just have to work at it, like anything else. 4)Interacting with people. It's healthy to talk, interact, imagine, discuss, and invent. your brain is part of your body, and the BEST exercise for it is using it alongside your friends. Thinking together is healthier than thinking alone. |

Well i'm rather overweight myself. I could stand to lose around 50-60lbs, and i'm currently 16 (almost 17, under a week away now
![]() Eaglecap, how i wish i lived in an enviornment like yours! I love to hike, and i've pushed my parents into taking us on vacation to the mountains just over 3-4 times now. This last summer we went up to Banff, Canada and my father and I did some serious hiking. The first day i got almost sick because of the difficult climb we had on that day, it isn't good to overwork yourself.
I agree with theARGHH though, he has set out some good guidlines there
![]() I also feel that sports are bad, along with Menumorut because, taking football for instance (the American kind) it's terrible for the body.

1. Any exercise's effects are reversbile. 2. Eat what you like. When you do something you dislike, you create a disorder in your psychic-physical forces raport. 3. Stress is bad but excess of distraction and laughing is too disturbing. 4. Yes, but the moments of loneliness are too pleasantful and reconforting. |

Good topic, and well worth discussing. We only have one life and taking
care of our health is an important way of milking it for all it is
worth.
As others have noted here, live an active lifestyle. This might not involve going bungee jumping, running up and down mountains and swimming 5 km a day - but a 30 minute run around the park can do wonders. Thousands of years ago our ancestors spent much of their day on the move, hunting, gathering, and in general expending a lot of energy just surviving. People today can get everything done with a minimum of effort. Meals are pre-cooked (and filled with unhealthy ingredients) at fast food restaurants, the shops are only a car trip away, a nifty device means we can change the TV without even getting up to walk to it. Doing something physically engaging instead is both natural and healthy. Foodwise, eat well. This means keeping your BMI between 20 and 25. Too much and you are either a really effective gym junkie and body builder (in which case good on you), or (far more likely) you are fat. And I will use the word fat because "overweight" is just a prissy euphemism that further cons fat people into thinking there is no need to do anything about their bodies. I only use olive oil to cook, as canola and vegetable oil have been linked to decline in vision. I do eat meat and very much enjoy it. I weight train about 5 times per week and the protein boost it provides is very helpful. A word of warning about proteing supplements; don't use too much. The body can only process a certain amount of protein every 24 hours. The body will absorb meat protein over protein powders made from such things as whey extract. The excess protein will be deposited in your bowel for a while before it exits the body, where it will make you feel uncomfortable and quite exhausted. As a general rule, maximum protein intake should be 2 grams per kilogram of bodyweight you have Plenty of fruits and vegetables, the fibre is good for your digestive tract. P.S. there is no truth to the rumour that carrots improve vision. This falsity was created by the British military in WWII to deceive the Germans over the existence of radar. A little dairy is ok if you are lactose tolerant. I avoid it completely when I am ill though. Human beings are indeed social creatures, so it is important that we have the ability to socialise and gain social esteem. In particular, finding people who share common interests is great. |

If meat was all bad it wouldn't taste so good. Unless God or whatever created us is either stupid or sadistic.
Bad breath? They eat unprepared meat and have no access to menthol. Have you been close to cows? They constantly fart and spread dung around themselves. And they don't smell like flowers, I can assure you. Edited by Styrbiorn - 13-Mar-2008 at 16:55 |

I must agree here. Each species is designed to consume a specific food or foods. We can't eat grass, because unlike cows we do not have four stomachs. The reason animals like tigers and lions appear permanently agitated is because they are predators. They are instinctively designed to hunt, fight, kill. This is due to instinct, not diet. Animals like sheep, deer and antilope are panicky and timid. This is not due to their diet, it is because they are a herbivore which is preyed on by carniovers, and so their instincts dictate their behaviour. |

While at fruits, vegetables you can describe their taste, is not the same with meat. It has not taste but rather smell and it's attracting rather by some illusive memories about other times you have eaten.
Not only their breath smells bad, but is agitate, not relaxed as at Herbivorous. I have worked a month or more in a cow stable. Is not that bad. |

First: EVERYTHING is reversible. That's life Second:The trick lies not in eating what you like or eating healthily even if you dislike it; the trick is in finding or creating healthy foods that you enjoy eating. Third: ...Disturbing how? disturbing doesn't mean anything--define it, and explain how laughter's health benefits can be outweighed by distraction. fourth: Loneliness is unlikely to be comforting. Not everything is reversible. Well feeling is not reversible if is made for your self-feeling of the body, but sports are made for a visual building of the body or for ataining some performances which gives little satisfaction. Laughing and exteriorizing make you empty inside. Many people are scared of loneliness. Is a superstition, they believe that staying alone for a while will make them lost some social advantages. This way, they run away of an experience which would make them live deeper and more true. Edited by Menumorut - 13-Mar-2008 at 20:46 |

Menumorut, I can feel the flavour of the meat, some of the most finest and tastiest dishes are made with meat. Yes, there's tasteless meat but also there are tasteless vegetables of fruits, like many of the bloated market products which look big, look nice but taste like nothing. I for one am not going for healthiness but for tastiness. Lucky for me the artificial food usually tastes worse than its natural counterpart. Taste and smell are closely related. That's when we are cold and our nose is running we feel the food is not so tasty Edited by Chilbudios - 13-Mar-2008 at 21:10 |
