Pakistan was supporting the Sri Lankans pretty much one hundred percent. Pakistan was and has been Sri Lanka main arms supplier and it pissed the Tamils off no end (http://www.tamilnet.com/art.html?artid=7&catid=13). It was India that supported the Tamils.

Back in 2006 (when this final round was about to begin), Sri Lankan officials came to Pak and secured an agreement with the GoP for supplies.

For an overview of Pak support to Lanka in the last three years (as well as before) you should check this forum (Pak mil forum, many ex army guys post there)
The Germans also take vacations in Paris; especially during the periods they call "blitzkrieg".

LTTE was the creation of the Indian intelligence services (or rather they supported them, there was a lot of grass roots movements in Sri Lanka for Tamils as well). They were supported by Indira Gandhi's government. The Sri Lankan government turned to Pakistan for support and the Sri Lankan Army (previously nothing more than a couple of infantry battalions) began to be trained. When Rajiv showed up he simply declared the LTTE an enemy of Lanka and India, the IPKF-Lanka was sent, however the purpose of the IPKF was to formalise the division of Lanka; the Indians had no love lost for the Tigers  and attacked them, with predicitable results.

The Indians supported the Tigers because the Tigers shared certain objectives with India; a lot like Pakistan vis a via the Taliban.

Not just that but why not an independent investigation into the corrupt nature in which the coalition justified and waged its horrific war on the Iraqi people? What about the instutionalisation of rape and torture of Iraqis at coalition hands?  Obama even recently blocked the publication of images showing American brutes raping and sexually assaulting inmates at Abu Ghraib.  What about the turkey shooting of civilians in Ramadi by US marines of which there is ample coverage of on you tube (yes, the sickos even taped it).

It makes me wonder what the underlying motive behind the support for Tamils is, given that it is plainly not humanitarian.  I wonder if Sri Lanka's becomming a Russian or Chinese outpost is the issue, as leonidas alluded to.
