Again,we talk about a slight difference.Overall,i found idiotic to talk about genes.Everyone can be characterized as a Hellen nowadays. The only thing to do is to learn Hellenic language, history and ethics ,and love the civilization.

He was just relieved but I don't know the reason..

I'll say one more time that even the tribes of the prehistoric ages didn't consist of people of some specific stock. Regarding the greek tribes, they were greco-phonic populations and that's what characterized them. They formed the greek nation as a whole which exists up to now. There are always foreign contributions in every nation but it doesn't mean that the nation changes (except in some special cases).

Does it mean that if I studied Hellenic history and language in the university and love the culture (all people love ancient greek culture, which is one of the basement for European culture) than I am greek? Wink What about greeks who don't give a damn about history and don't learn ancient greek (except in school but they forgot it)? Who are they? Tongue

But to be serious, I do not consider stupid the usage genetics in history. Molecular anthropology, to my opinion, will become one of the more powerfull tools soon because it is much more explainable and less depent on the researcher's nationality. In questions like that which is in the topic this discipline would be very helpfull.

In this respect I have a question. Correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know ancient greeks buried their died people. Is it known at least one case in which a lot of people suddenly died (like earth quake or buttle) and their remains were found?

The Hellenic civilization is not only Ancient Hellas. It exists for more than 3.000 years and it continues to exist and develop. If you know Hellenic language and history(not only Ancient History),love Hellas with all your heart and think like a Hellen, then you are a Hellen. It's not the origin that makes you a Hellen, but your heart and education.

There is a difference in not giving a damn about history, and not knowing about history. For example, somebody can know history but it does not give a sh*t about it.

Again, the Hellenic civilization exists for 3.000 years .THis is the first step in order to become a Hellen.Ancient Hellas and Ancient Hellenic language is just a part of the Hellenic civilization.

Cool! I am impressed really. I have some chanses to join the club. At least I love Hellenic culture and always loved. The only thing I am wondering about is what does it mean -- to think like a Hellen? [JOKINGLY]

You are wrong, Pella's katadesmos is written in the Doric dialect (or Northwest)

Yeah, Ionians's dialect (or Athenians' if you wanna be more accurate) spread and became lingua franca and this is the dialect modern greek comes from.  Dorians were not highly civilised that's why their dialect and culture didn't survive although they were more numerous.

I am not joking, and i as respect you ,you have the obligation to respect me.In order to learn all that you need to become a Hellen(history ,language etc) you have to pass through the Hellenic educational system of the Hellenic State.Because if you go to a foreign university or school you will be considered ,in the best case,a Philhellen, not a Hellen. You must follow the whole procedure that the Hellenic State requires.Concerning the language, you are obligated to know the Hellenic of your time, meaning modern Hellenic, sth fundamental because if you are saying that you are a Hellen without knowing the language you are probably from the another planet. If you want to know Ancient Hellenic,be my guess, but the knowledge only of Ancient Hellenic does not make you a Hellen. That ,along with the others mentioned previously, will give you the capability to be considered a Hellen.
