It is a very basic knowledge in human biology that it is the size of the pupil that controls the light entering the eye, not the colour of the iris. Some people naturally have more dilated or more constricted pupils than average which affect their sensitivity to light. It has nothing to do with the colour of the iris.

Where does the eye color Hazel come from?  Under regular indoor light my eyes are a strong cerulean blue, in bright daylight however, my eyes are a strange mix of colors including yellow, with a smattering of anomolous dark spots.  I have always been told this is called "hazel".

Indoor light is yellow/orange, and your brain adjusts that background yellow to "white". The difference in your eye colour stems from those two facts.

Thank you Omshanti, it was a question I had always intended to raise, just never thought of it at the right time.

Hey folks, the color of your eyes do nothing to establsih you actual identity! And as far as discerning a "common" ancestor what can one say about a family group in which sets of first cousins exhibit a veritable rainbow of eye colors from blue through dark brown? Then there is the interesting example of the albino...

This was a strange report this thread starter. I don't agree with it. I can say without a doubt I am not attracted to blue eyed people at all. Especially men. It must be something deep seated as I don't seem to trust people with blue eyes and ummm let's see...I have 0 friends with blue eyes, even when I was living in the U.S. I wonder why? What would research say about that?

That "it" is usually called racist prejudice. At least it would have if you replace "blue" with "slanted".

Yes, I can see where that would be considered but I am not racist. At all.  I would be a racist against my own DNA then or something since I have Finn, Dutch, Amerindian, a little German and uh..I think French? It's just one of those weird things. I have brown eyes, and I feel more comfortable or like "family" with other people with brown eyes. This is not a conscious thing. I am a hyper aware hyper sensitive person so don't mind my weirdnesses, just babbling out loud here. Howeverrrrrrrrr, something strange also happened one time when I was visiting California and I was in I think it was Marin County across from S.F. and we stopped at a health food store. I was okay, fine, but after being in there for maybe 15 minutes I kept feeling something was wrong, or off. I commented on it when I got to the car and my friend said "oh yeah, that happens to me too. it is because everyone is white in there."  And in fact, it was true, there was not not one brown face in there, not one race different. It makes me nervous. But I am "white" to the eye of others. LOL
